The Kadai Charcoal Starter is a genuine Kadai Fire Bowl accessory, a simple yet attractive design that will get your charcoal hot and glowing. It’s the cleanest, easiest and most foolproof way to light the charcoal for your grill.
Simply roll up a few sheets of newspaper quite loosely, leaving air between the paper so it burns properly (don't be tempted to overload with tightly packed newspaper) and place under the base of your Kadai Charcoal Starter. Stand the Kadai Charcoal Starter upright in your barbeque and fill with charcoal as required. Now light the newspaper through the vents in the base of the Kadai Charcoal Starter, making sure you ignite the paper in several places. The paper will burn underneath the coals, after about 2 minutes the paper will have burnt out and the smoke will stop. When a little smoke reappears the coals have ignited and the heat will work its way up through the Kadai Charcoal Starter, this will take approximately 15 – 20 minutes.
When the edges of the top coals turn white the charcoal is ready to use. Using the wooden handles provided carefully pour the charcoal into the base of your barbeque and you’re ready to cook.
This environmentally friendly product with it’s rustic charm and appeal makes a useful accessory for the Kadai Barbeque Fire Bowl. Made from iron and measuring approximately 38cm high, 26cm diameter at the base and 15cm diameter at the top, it ignites charcoal without the need for firelighters or charcoal lighter fluid.
A good quality, strong, sturdy Kadai product as seen at the Chelsea Flower Show 2011.
